Fram Clayworks: David Fram
Twenty-five years ago, I was a stressed-out associate at a D.C. law firm, looking for a diversion from the crazed demands of the job. A friend recommended pottery lessons and as soon as I learned to center the clay on the wheel, I was hooked. Since then, I've been obsessed with the feel, smell, and creative possibilities of clay. I create simple, functional work (bowls, plates, platters), which can stand alone or as a group. I love color, often updating my palette, but always keeping certain core colors. The best compliment I get is when someone tells me they've broken one of my pieces; It means they use it. I work out of my studio in East Hampton.
